Beauty & the Beast…Baja style!

Beautiful Baja Hawkfish

Another pristine morning in the Baja.  The mullet were jumping and as the sun rose Wesley Brough hooked a monster Roosterfish that later broke him off…just another SEBILE Stick Shadd donated to the fish gods of the Baja.  My turn would prove no better, as after a smashing strike and 5 minute fight a 40lb class Roosterfish broke me off on the rocks as well.  Roosters 2, Wesley and Dave 0! Maybe tomorrow!  I  did catch this beautiful Hawkfish today, which was right where Wesley said it would be…next to the rocks.  Look at the pectoral fins, they are like little rubbery fingers that they use to hold onto the rocks in the turbulent water.

Wesley tied into this HUGE Sierra (Spanish Mackerel) right off  the rocks and had to scramble from his perch down to the beach to land it.  Keep in mind that Wes is 6′-7″ tall.  Our camera guy, Sterling, has to keep a wider frame to get my head in the picture.  This grande sized Sierra age the new SEBILE Magic Swimmer 190 Sinking model as it was twitched around some rocks.  Great job Wes!
