Jansen Sierra Tournament IV

This past Sunday was the Jansen Sierra Tournament IV and the participation was historic! Anglers from as far away as La Paz drove the 2 hours to be apart of the 220 angler field and a chance at a NEW Shimano Stella 18000 reel for the biggest Sierra caught.

I fished with good friend Marco, the store manager at Jansen’s Inshore Tackle and it was a wonderful morning of fishing …fishing NOT catching! The wind blew up HUGE waves and made it almost impossible to cast to clean water, ie: water without sand stirred up in it, and I can cast 150 YARDS with my surf set up!!! Both Marco and I landed a small Sierra early and I had only two other quick bites during the 3 hour event.

At the end top honors went to Isacc Bibriesca Medina, a 15 year old that had to be thrilled with the $1,000 Shimano Stella reel for his First Place finish!!!

This is by far the most well attended shore fishing tournament in Baja and very well run bu Jansen & Crew!!! thanks to Stephan, Monica and HookUp Magazine for a fun tourney! BTW the fish kept are donated to a local orphanage to feed the kids there! AWESOME!!! Who’s that guy, lower right, in the yellow FTB hat???
